Federal agency declines to take action on “clitoral sensitivity tests” on children
The federal Office of Human Research Protection, which conducted an investigation at AIC’s urging, has stated that they will take no further action about the “clitoral sensitivity tests” being done on children at Weill-Cornell Medical College by Dr. Dix Poppas. The federal agency has decided that the tests were part of medical care, and not research. This does not mean they have determined that there was no wrongdoing — only that whatever happened wasn’t research and therefore isn’t under their authority. AIC is now following up in an effort to understand how they reached this conclusion. We are also considering further enforcement actions.
